<aside> <img src="/icons/barricade_yellow.svg" alt="/icons/barricade_yellow.svg" width="40px" /> The cord homepage hasn’t been optimized for sign-ups since it was designed and built around 2 years ago. Since there’s a squad dedicated to increasing the number of people that sign up to cord, it seems to be the perfect opportunity to try to improve it.
User Research: Landing page & Signup All the data presented was collected over user interviews that were run in Feb 2022, however, we believe this is still quite up to date.
Context: Using video interviews, hotjar and google analytics, we conducted user research with software developers who were not cord users to better understand how to optimize the signup flow and landing page.
For the purpose of this project, we will be looking at Goal 1 - Gain a better understanding of how passive job seekers perceive cord, which was conducted through the ‘think-aloud research method and focused on the landing page.

Answers weren’t positive and it was consensual (5/6 People) that most didn’t have a clear idea of what the product actually does once they first landed on the page, users said they understood it was a tool for finding work but reinforced that the how it works wasn’t easy to understand just by scrolling through the landing page added that the ‘how it works’ page did a better job at clarifying that, but even so, the page seemed disorganized.
In this research the overall opinion was that the landing page was where participants struggled the most with achieving the goal of understanding what the company does, participants pointed out that the page lacked information on the product (4/6 People) therefore it was difficult to understand what the product does, most users also pointed the header of the website ‘the messaging tool for finding work’ to be unclear (5/6 People).
